Walsall VS Brentford In Championship Final...Potential starting 11 for Walsall

I have settled on who will be my starting 11 for the potential promotion match. It wasn't an easy task since I've used a large squad all year and there's more than a few who deserved to start but I'm going with the guys that I feel have "Big Game" potential.

Brentford are the favorite according to Bet190 bookie but I feel I have a very good shot, specially with wonderkid Noriega on my squad and him being the best player on the field.

Walsall starting 11

Jesus Noriega will be deployed on the right side as an inside forward supporting Jackson. While Noriega has played most of his game as the main striker, I sense that I could potentially take advantage of 20 year old Rico Henry, Brentford left back who could get the start and doesn't have great defensive stats.

Walsall Beat Hull City In Playoff Semi Final

After losing the final match of the regular season to Leeds United, My Walsall team still managed to barely make the playoff through the 6th seed after a few other match result benefited me. On the 2 legged semi final matches against Hull City, I managed to beat them on an aggregate of 3 to 1. Won the first match at home 2-1 and than proceeded in beating them again at their home ground 1-0.

So now, for the final, I will be facing Bentford FC who easily managed to defeat QPR on an aggregate of 5-2.

Brentford FC Danger-men

To beat Brentford, I will have to keep a watch on a few of heir talented forwards, specially Brazilian Pedro Rocha who has managed to score 17 championship goals and set up an additional 10 assist. Scott Hogan, his strike-force partner is as equally talented, scoring 17 goals and 7 assist.

Sky Bet Championship Update..Walsall On verge to lock up Playoff spot.

After a long season in the championship, my Walsall club is currently sitting on the 4th seed which is a playoff spot, with 1 match to go. A draw would guaranty me a playoff spot while losing could see me drop out entirely from the playoff picture. Standing below.

Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Peterborough could all still make the playoff and knock me out of the picture unless I could simply manage to get 1 point out the final match of the season which will be against Leeds United.

Sky Bet Championship Final Week Fixture

Jesus Noriega Phenomenal year

Noriega has been my main star player who has constantly been able to produce goals for me and with 24 goals on 37 Championship appearances, he's almost a lock to win the Sky Bet Championship player of the year award. Noriega's 24 goals is also the most among all players in the Championship.

Other Walsall notable performers.

After Noriega, there's a bit of drop-off when it come to performance but those that are worth a mention are striker Simeon Jackson who has managed 9 goals and 7 assist on 29 appearance.

New signee Baily Cargill, central defender, has currently the best ratings at 7.20 on 30 appearances but apparently, his appearances is not enough to make the player stats standings. Baily will unfortunately miss the final game of the season because he picked up a red card during the previous game and will be suspended.

On-Loan wing back Brad Smith, 19 year old Milan Butterfield and 20 year old Jordan Sangha, all played important role during this season success championship campaign.

Noriega Hattrick..Back in business

American wonder-kid Jesus Noriega had recently broken a 13 hours goal drought while coming off the bench against Bristol City, in a losing afford. But on the very next game, Noriega regained his scoring touch that he showed in League-One, by bagging a hattrick against Reading.

Sky Bet Championship Update...Noriega Struggle in the Championship

Half way through my Sky Bet Championship campaign, Walsall sits on the 11th spot of the table and things re definitely harder there than last year Sky Bet League-One campaign.

My 18 year old American Son and Wonder-kid, Jesus Noriega, is also not having the easy time he had in league-One as oppose to the Championship. Last year, he finished with 20 goals and 18 assist on 35 League-One appearances.

This year in the Championship, with half way through it, Jesus has recorded 5 goals and 1 assist on 17 championship appearances. So he's far behind last year blistering pace which was probably not going to happen given the fact that he's just turned 18 recently and is still growing as a player. Jesus recently ended a goal drought that lasted 13 hours of football. Let's hope he can start scoring in bunches again.

New Season underway...New signings for Walsall F.C

After easily winning promotion to the Championships, I've now embarked into a new campaign that is well underway with a few new arrivals but the team is pretty much the same  from last year Sky Bet One campaign.

New arrivals:

Mark Little,  right wing backs, signed on free transfer from Bristol City......after Carlos Edward retired, I really needed to fill this hole and Little was the best I could afford and so far, he's done well in the Championship.

Baily Cargill: Ball-Playing central back...Really needed left footed central back with composure and passing ability to fit my system and Baily attribute had what I was looking for. Cargill was signed on a free from league-1 Gillingham F.C.

Harry Wilson: right side inside forward, loanee from Liverpool. Needed an additional left footed right winger to compete with Kieron Morris who hasn't particularly played well so far. Wilson has dribbling and technique ability that would suit my Walsall team well.

Other acquisition were George Dobson, a defensive midfielder who was on loaned with me from West Ham. Decided to signed him on a free transfer.

Central backs Jason McCarthy and Kevin Toner who were both on loan with me last year, have also re-joined the team on another loan spell. Both played well last year in helping me obtain promotion into the Championships.

WonderKid Jesus Noriega had suffered in injury that forced him to missed the entire pre-season training camp, but he's back now and has already scored 3 goals in 5 appearances.

Sadly, Erhun Oztumer who was out the entire last season because of injury, again injured himself during training camp and will be out for an additional 4 weeks.

Walsall Lifts Checkatrade Paint Trophy!

After going down 1-0 in the first half, Milan Butterfield managed to finally equalized the score at the 76th minute mark to push the match into penalty kicks where Walsall managed to outlast Leyton Orient FC 6 to 5.

19 year old Butterfield who came on as a sub, was player of the match and scored the crucial goal that Was all desperately needed.
